Best non fiction books for beginners

Are you trying to start a reading habit?

These easy non-fiction exhilarating books will help you make a habit and a hobby to read. 

Many people are distressed to find the best books to start a reading habit or they will get bored and quit.

I get it. It can be disappointing to find a popular book that doesn’t interest you, which have been liked by others.  I have been in the same situation many times. 

So how do you find that book which can interest you and will not let you quit?   Find a reason why you want to read. Are you looking for self-improvement,   motivation or  developing skills like storytelling? 

That’s how you would be able to find the right book for you. Here are few of the recommendations that made me develop a reading habit.

1.  The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

A simple read book with hidden meanings. It follows a story of Santiago, a shepherd boy, who believes that certain recurring dream of having some prophecy. 

He meets a fortune teller to understand about the dream. She tells him that she sees a treasure in the pyramids of Egypt and he should uncover. On his journey, he unveils something more which enlightens him.

2. The Four Agreements by Miguel Ruiz

The smallest book with 129 pages, which will be a practical guide to personal freedom. 

It challenges one to live up to four simple truths, which will transform you into a life you have always imagined. In a nutshell, 

1) Be impeccable with your work. 

2) Don’t take anything personally. 

3) Don’t make assumptions 

4) Always do your best. 

Seems very simple, but they are harder to carry in your daily life. 

Ruiz has kept it short and captivating to read. The agreements are applicable to everyone, everywhere, regardless of religion, gender, age, etc.

3. You are a Badass by Jen Sincero

Jen Sincero is a world travelling success coach. The book has 27 chapters with witty inspiring stories, life changing insights, simple exercises and some occasional swear words. 

The book has life changing lessons wrapped up in mini chapters. It gives you time to apply and go back to the same, if you have missed out. 

Jen has explained how you can transform yourself, help in creating money, relationships, career and other general topics in the most hilarious and wild way.

4. Who will cry when you die? By Robin Sharma

Do you want to replace the empty feeling inside with peace, passion and purpose with life? 

Then this book is for you. It teaches you a simple yet powerful lesson which you need to rise to the next level of living. 

There are 101 mini chapters which consist of the lesson to improve small things in your daily life which will impact yourself going ahead.

5. The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

When was the last time you were living in the moment? 

A lot of people don’t even know the power of living in the moment. 

Mr. Tolle spent two years sitting on a park bench and simply living in the moment. 

He implores the readers to take the reign of their own minds, focus on the beauty and love around them, just living like children when the world was full of wonder. 

It’s an enlightening book of finding happiness in the simplest way.

6. The 7 habits of highly effective people by Stephen R. Covey

This book explains 7 principles that make a person more effective personally and professionally. 

Covey shows how a principle – centered, character – based life helps you build the healthy relationships that are key to an effective life. 

This classic is well worth reading for its perspective and practical advice. This book will teach you effective ways to be a compassionate, kind, and enjoyable human being.

7. Who moved my cheese? By Dr. Spencer Johnson

An interesting story of four characters that lived in a maze and is looking for cheese to nourish them and make them happy. 

Cheese is a metaphor for how you want to live life and what kind of decision to make in a

relationship, finding the right job, money, your path to spirituality. 

It’s a book that you will complete in 1 sitting but you will go back and cherish it for life time.
